Often, the first question asked is “What does it cost to build a website?” The answer is inevitably, “Depends on what you want!” I am committed to finding innovative ways to reduce your costs while still giving you what you need for your business. How often do you hear that? Usually businesses are focused on maximizing their own profits instead. But I know that when you get a good value for your money, you are much more likely to recommend me to others. And now companies are tightening their budgets even more. Cost is only one (albeit a very important) part of the overall experience. There is also the quality of the graphic design, the efficiency of the programming, how the navigation works, ease of updates, and administration design and functionality. How Will It Function?

Web design without technology is just art. I use the latest technologies without being too tied down to one. I’ve found this is the best way to provide the best functionality for the best price. It means I am constantly learning too! Check out the website development technologies I use.

How Long Does It Take?

Depending on the size of the site, your response time to me, and the level of detail you require, it is typically between two weeks and two months to complete a website. A normal timeframe to expect is about a month, but I can adjust to your timeframe.

What If I Want to Edit My Own Pages?

Often my clients want to edit their own pages and create content. That’s great! I highly encourage it. However, website development is not quite the same as editing a Word document. There are CSS constraints, web standards, and other considerations. I can make it so you can add content to your website without breaking anything.

There is no one-size-fits all solution to this. There are several options available, including Wordpress (this website is built on a Wordpress installation), simple CMS modules (I have one that works great), custom-built administration panels, or direct FTP manipulation (not for the faint of heart). I’ll take a look at your specific needs and recommend the right fit for you. In fact, I have developed (along with my ace programming friend and colleague Tim Santeford) a framework called phpGenesis that I’ve been using for several months now. phpGenesis is absolutely blazing fast and totally customizable.
